Overview

In this experience, students review key individuals and groups from U.S. history and take a practice quiz of Citizenship Test questions related to them.

Estimated duration: 30 minutes

In this experience, you will review key leaders and groups in American history in preparation for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services test. There are many important individuals and groups that have contributed to the shaping of America. The ones covered in this review are the ones singled out in the Citizenship Test.

If students are working through this in a class setting, ask for a volunteer to explain the three nicknames:

  • Father of the Country: George Washington was the first president of the United States and thus the “father.”
  • “Poor Richard” Saunders: Benjamin Franklin used this pseudonym to publish Poor Richard’s Almanack.
  • The Liberator: Abraham Lincoln is noted for being the president who freed the African slaves.
