The Pack contains associated resources for the learning experience, typically in the form of articles and videos. There is a teacher Pack (with only teacher information) and a student Pack (which contains only student information). As a teacher, you can toggle between both to see everything.
Here are the teacher pack items for Case Study: Innovations of the Late 1800s:
Overview In this experience, students create a case study of a major Gilded Age invention or innovation that has impacted the history of the United States. First they develop inquiry questions and conduct research to answer them. Then they following the writing process to create a written report. Next they work in small groups to prepare and deliver an oral report. Finally, they evaluate their presentation using a rubric. Students will collaborate in small groups for scene 5. Assign each of the small groups one of the inventions before beginning the lesson: electricity, telephones, steel production, and agricultural automation. Students will prepare individual written reports and one group oral report together with students who investigated the same invention. There is no quiz at the end of the experience. Instead, students will self-evaluate their work using a rubric. The rubric is available in the Student Pack for students to review before they begin work on the presentations. At each stage, give students a time framework for their tasks. Objectives:
