Based on what you know, as well as the geography of the region, what do you think some of the important economic features of this region might be?

Post your answer

Discuss student responses. Students will likely note that the peninsulas of the region mean there is a lot of water, which can mean a potential trade in seafood. Water also suggests trade via ship and the manufacturing industry that supports it. Students might also note that Southern Europe includes the Mediterranean region, which means warm climate and related agriculture.
